January 2023 Updates

Compost

At our compost meeting, we celebrated that we're seeing steady growth at many of the compost drop-off sites! In addition, Providence Public Schools are now composting!

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available to help with this work. Please reach out if you are interested in helping to spread the word about the compost sites!

Plastics Reduction

Earlier this month, ZWP signed a letter with 10 other Rhode Island environmental organizations calling on Governor Dan McKee to support a container deposit law, or “bottle bill,” to fight plastic pollution and increase recycling in Rhode Island. Read the letter and learn more about the bottle bill here!

At our last meeting on plastics reduction, we discussed other ways ZWP can help to promote the bottle bill. If you are interested in helping with this work, join the next plastics reduction meeting on Tuesday, February 21.
